After some starry casting in recent days, Ava DuVernay's adaptation of literary classic "A Wrinkle in Time" may have found its young lead.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the fantasy flick has cast actress Storm Reid in the high-profile role of protagonist Meg Murray, a girl who's searching the universe for her missing scientist father. Her casting reflects studio Disney's commitment to make the Murray family diverse, casting black or mixed race actors in those roles, and THR reports that the film is also looking for a non-white actor to play Meg's classmate, Calvin O'Keefe.

Reid, a 13-year-old relative newcomer, made her feature film debut in 2013's "Twelve Years a Slave," which took home the Oscar for Best Picture. She's since appeared on many TV shows, including "The Thundermans," "Adam DeVine's House Party," "NCIS: Los Angeles," and "Chicago P.D.," as well as in American Girl movie "Lea to the Rescue."

The young actress s an already-impressive ensemble, with Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which).

Reid is definitely in great company with that lineup. We can't wait to see who else s the flick in the weeks to come.
