'The Favourite' Director Yorgos Lanthimos Lines Up Neo-Noir Project
Now this should be interesting (and dark): The Lobster" has announced his next project: "Pop. 1280" by pulp writer Jim Thompson.
Lanthimos will write and direct the adaptation of the 1964 crime novel, which is about a corrupt sheriff in a small West Texas town.
It was previously filmed in 1981 as "Isabelle Huppert and was set in a small town in 1938 French West Africa, instead of the novel's original setting.
Any fans of noir will recognize Thompson's name: Several of his novels have been turned into films, including "The Killer Inside Me."
We're very open to him hiring Rachel Weisz for this one.
