College students are being recruited to act as "mules" or carriers of hard drugs from a foreign country to the United States. When one such carrier is killed, Mike Andros turns his attention to cracking the slick operation.

Mavis Higgins, an immigrant witnesses the murder of a toymaker but is terrified because of her immigration situation to go to the police with her evidence. A priest and Mike Andros try to encourage her.
11. Killer of the Year
A linebacker is drawn into a cover-up for the murder a quarterback committed.
12. The Surrender
A hunted radical leader asks Andros to arrange for his safe surrender.
13. The Smut Peddler
An editor of a scandal publication gets burned out repeatedly for not revealing his sources, and Mike, not fond of the editor, tries to steer an even course through a maze of international figures and reputations.
